About the final grade calculator
Your final grade is the sum of your current grade (the part of the course already completed) and your final exam score, each multiplied by its weight. Rearranging that equation tells you the minimum exam score that gets you to the grade you want.
Formula
Needed score = (target − current × (1 − w)) ÷ w, where w is the final exam weight as a decimal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate what I need on my final?
Subtract the portion of your grade already earned from your target, then divide by the weight of the final. This calculator does it for you.
What if the result is over 100%?
The target is out of reach with the exam alone. Ask your teacher about extra credit or choose a lower target.
